BOWDOIN NINE TO FACE UNIVERSITY

The Bowdoin nine, which was defeated by Yale on Monday only after a home run in the ninth inning had brought in the winning runs, will meet the University team this afternoon at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field.

The Maine visitors succumbed to Princeton early in the season, 1-7, but have defeated Columbia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Bates and Amherst.

Holy Cross won from Bowdoin on Friday, 6-3, and Brown did likewise on Saturday, 5-1. Tufts defeated the visitors yesterday, 9-4.

The University, through bunched hits in the opening innings, won a 4-1 victory over the Maine team last year. Walker, who was pounded for the winning runs before being relieved by Flinn, will start in the box again today. Flinn, however, as was the case last year, may be called upon in the later innings. The infield will be made up entirely of veterans, all of whom faced the University last year, as well as one outfielder who is playing his third year on the Maine team.

Coach Slattery will use either Russell or Goode. The Crimson batting order of the Maine game, in which Murphy was shifted from the fifth to the eighth position, will be used again this afternoon.

Today's game will be the last of a series of seven which the Bowdoin team is playing on the present trip, the longest which any Maine college has attempted in recent years.
