THIRTEEN INNINGS BUT SECOND NINE WINS 15-12

In the most spectacular game of the season the Second University baseball team defeated the Brockton High School nine in a 13-inning game by the score of 15-12. The game was peculiar in more than one respect. In no inning did both the opposing teams score though each ran up some large rallies throughout the contest.

Errors played a large part in the high score for the Crimson fielders made ten while the schoolboys had nine scored against them. But poor fielding was not the only feature of the contest, for during the first seven innings the pitching on both sides was erratic, but with Geardino going in for Morrcea on the High School team the game settled down to a pitching battle. Brown replaced Miller in the fourth and held the Brockton hitters for no runs after that inning.

Norris Clears the Bases

The seconds started the scoring in the first when two men got on by errors and were knocked in when Norris cleared the bases with a homer. In the next inning the schoolboys gained the lead by scoring four runs on three errors and two hits, while the fourth added two more runs to the Brockton score. The fourth was the big inning. Three timely hits, loose pitching, and some costly errors brought in six Brockton runners bringing the score up to 12-3 but at this point Brown went in and put and end to the home team's scoring.

Eight Runs for Crimson

It was now the Crimson's turn to score and in the next two innings eight runners crossed the plate. One more run in the seventh tied the score and so it remained until the thirteenth.

In the last inning Ross pounded out a double and it was quickly followed by singles by Lucas, Bullard, and Keegan so scoring the three runs.
