SECOND TENNIS TEAM LOSES 4-1

Newton Center Squash Club Gains Hard-Fought Victory on Club Courts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

After victories on Monday and Tuesday, the second University tennis team met its first defeat of the week yesterday afternoon at the hands of the Newton Center Squash Club on the club courts. The score 4-1 is by no means a measure of the victory since four of the five matches went to three sets and all were hard-fought.

Kleberg was the outstanding player on the Crimson team, winning his singles and featuring in the only doubles match of the afternoon.

The summary:

Singles.--Wilbur (N) defeated C. W. Farnham (H), 8-6, 1-6, 6-2; Kleberg (H) defeated Cooke (N), 6-2, 6-2; Gray defeated Frost (H), 6-3, 4-6, 11-9; Church (N) defeated Cummings (H), 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles.--Cooke and Patterson (N) defeated Kleberg and Cummings (H), 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Final score: Newton 3, Harvard Seconds 1.
