Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
At a recent meeting of the Reception Committee, appointed by the Student Council to have charge of the reception of visiting athletic teams, a definite plan for the work this spring was decided upon and a supplementary committee consisting of eight Freshmen was chosen as follows: Chairman, P. H. Robb, R. H. Ames, B. F. Rice-Bassett, F. G. Cleveland, Gardner Cowles Jr., H. T. Dunker, J. H. Finley Jr., and W. H. Gratwick Jr.
Chairman Vinton Chapin '23 announced that the chief work of the Reception Committee will be to bring about closer cooperation between the athletic management and the school clubs in the University so that a more cordial welcome will be extended to the visiting schoolboy teams. The Committee will also have responsibility for the entertainment of visiting college teams.
Further Arrangements Made
The decision on the appointment of the Freshman committee came as a result of the feeling that the first year men would be in closer touch with schools and hence more fitted to entertain the teams when in Cambridge. Arrangements will be made so that men in the University who have friends on the visiting teams may eat with them in Smith Hall at lunch on the day the teams are in Cambridge. The Committee will attempt to have the school clubs assist as much as possible with their entertainment, and a special effort will be made to take care of the teams in the track, tennis, and crew interscholastic.
The members of the committees have been assigned to the various sports as follows:
Reception Committee.--Vinton Chapin '23 and H. P. U. Harris '23, baseball; G. C. Guild '23 and E. St. R. Reynal '24, tennis; C. V. Chandler '23, track; C. H. Hawes '23, crew; Corliss Lamont '24, lacrosse.
Freshman Committee.--P. H. Robb and Gardner Cowles Jr., baseball; F. G. Cleveland and H. T. Dunker, track; B. F. Rice-Bassett and W. H. Gratwick Jr., crew; R. H. Ames and J. H. Finley Jr., tennis.
