CRIMSON FIVE EASILY DEFEATS TUFTS, 38-17

In their final game of the present week Coach Wachter's men experienced comparatively little difficulty in defeating, 38-17, the Tufts quintet yesterday afternoon at the Hemenway Gymnasium. Marked by excellent team-play, and especially by the outstanding defence work of Rudofsky at guard, the Crimson five jumped into the lead at the opening whistle and was never headed during the entire contest.

Until injured about mid-way through the first half, Captain McLeish gave one of the best exhibitions of foul shooting that has been seen this year at Hemenway, scoring nine free tries, out of ten attempts. Lowenthal again played brilliantly at left forward, scoring four tallies from scrimmage, while Black, until sent out because of four personal fouls, played a fast and aggressive game at roving guard, bringing in two baskets from the floor for the University.

The roughest game that has been seen at Hemenway in some time, 36 fouls were called in all during the contest, but except for the work of McLeish the free try throwing of both sides was very mediocre.

McLeish Leads Scoring.

Taking the lead at the very start of the struggle when he caged the first basket for the Crimson, Captain McLeish led the scoring all the way and, with two tallies from the floor and nine free tries, piled up all but four of the 17 Harvard points in the first half. Meanwhile the defensive work of Rudofsky and Black had proved so effective that the Blue and White had been able to score but two baskets from scrimmage, which, however, were aided by a couple of foul shots.

In the second half, Coach Wachter sent in all his second and third string players, but in spite of a desperate Tufts rally, the Crimson ran up 21 points to the visitor's eleven.
