UNIVERSITY HOCKEY PLAYERS HOLD FINAL ARENA DRILL TODAY

Coach Claflin put his University hockey players through another stiff work-out yesterday afternoon at the Arena in preparation for tomorrow night's game at New Haven. The Crimson men will hold their last practice session before the contest today. The drill will be light.

The University squad had the Arena ice entirely to itself yesterday and made good use of the privilege. A half-hour's drill in the usual fundamentals took up the first part of the work-out. During this, scrimmaging around the goal was emphasized. Coach Claflin also sent his forward lines down on a three man defence arranged in a wedge-like formation with two players behind and one in advance.

In the last half of the afternoon the regulars scrimmaged the substitutes for the first time this season. To make the task of the Crimson first-string players more difficult, Coach Claflin put seven men into the scrub line-up. With this advantage the substitutes were able to hold the regulars to a standstill, effectively smashing up their attack and breaking through for actual goals themselves on several occasions.

The first team lined up as usual except for Crosby's absence from the defence, Gratwick taking his place. The former was still a trifle weak from a cold yesterday, but will be in good condition for this afternoon's practice. The substitutes went on the ice with Angler, Phillips, and Cabot in the forward line; Guild. Graves, and Lamont on the three-man outer defence; and Flint at goal.

The Crimson Ramblers who last year played several games after the close of the regular University season, will be organized again next week in case of a Crimson victory at New Haven tomorrow; the week after if a deciding contest is necessary. The Ramblers will be picked from the University squad and will also probably include several of the most promising Freshman players.
