ADD TO 'BEGGAR'S OPERA' EXHIBIT

Many Early Editions and Portraits Placed in Treasure Room of Widener

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In addition to the exhibit of early editions of the "Beggar's Opera" already on view in the Treasure Room of the Widener Library, there have now been added several other early editions and numerous portraits of the characters. Books concerning Captain MacHeath, the hero, and copies of other plays that were imitations of the "Beggar's Opera" have been put on exhibition.

These new exhibitions have been been taken from the collection of the late E. L. Gay '97 and from the Daniel Paine. Griswold Memorial Collection, which was recently bequeathed to the Library.
