Playing its first contest of the season the University Second Football team, in a game full of loose tackling and many fumbles, was defeated at Exeter yesterday by a score of 13 to 6.
The Seconds were the first to score, when, during the first quarter, the team made its way down the field on line plunges and recovered fumbles. I. G. Black '24 made the lone tally when he received a forward pass from F. W. Pratt '23, acting Captain. Pratt failed to kick the goal.
Zarakov Scores Twice for Exeter
Exeter made a come-back soon when Zarakov, after several brilliant long runs, tied the score, Charlesworth missed the goal. Later in the game Pratt threw a long forward pass, only to have it intercepted by Charlesworth. On the next play Elliott made a short pass to Zarakov, who made a brilliant long run and crossed the goal line by excellent dodging.
In addition to Zarakov's skill at carrying the ball, Exeter profited by the clever foot-work of Lundell, who made many long punts.
The summary is as follows: Score, Exeter 13, Harvard Seconds 6. Touchdowns, Black, Zarakov 2. Umpire, F. W. Whitman. Field judge, Oscar Pearson. Time, 8-minute quarters.
