UNIVERSITY USES AERIAL ATTACK FOR FIRST TIME IN SCRIMMAGE YESTERDAY

Coach Fisher sent his squad through the first scrimmage of the week yesterday when the Freshman team opposed the University for thirty minutes after which Coach Knox's team, replacing the yearlings, exchanged punts with the red-jerseyed men in a practice especially for the ends and kickers.

For the first time this season, during the scrimmage, team A opened up with an aerial attack which netted 66 yards and resulted in two touchdowns, while a third was made on long gains by rushing after team B had replaced the first-string men.

The University lined up with Fitts and Holder ends, Greenough and Eastman tackles, Kunhardt and Grew guards, Kernan center, Buell quarterback, Owen, Chapin and Gehrke backs. C. J. Hubbard, Clark, and Dunker, who started Saturday's game, were not dressed at yesterday's practice. Hartley is still on the injured list but will probably be ready by Saturday, although it is more than likely that he will not start into the game because of his lame foot.

Fitts Scores on Pass from Buell

The scrimmage with the Freshmen started at mid-field. Owen gained five yards on a line plunge and Chapin followed with gains of two and five yards respectively. Then the Crimson opened its forward pass attack and a toss from Buell to Fitts netted the remaining 32 yards to the goal line.

The University was again given the ball, this time on the Freshmen's 45-yard line, and, after some minor plays, Churchill, who was substituting for Chapin, caught a short pass from Buell, which enabled him to race the 22 yards to the goal line. Buell kicked the goal.

Team B replaced A at this point, and long gains chiefly by Rouillard and Pfaffman, were responsible for a third score which ended the yearling scrimmage.

Coach Knox's men were then given the ball on the 50-yard line, and after two plays had failed to gain. T. D. Blake '25, the black-jerseyed quarterback, pierced the line on an off-tackle play, side-stepped the secondary defense, and raced 50 yards for a touchdown. The practice was then turned into a kicking duel with no advantage for either team until Gordon blocked a second team punt, recovered the ball himself, and dashed over the goal.
