HERNDON AND INGRAHAM WIN IN STRAIGHT SETS

Gain Victory in University Doubles Tournament by Defeating Bradley and Turner--Winners Secure Decision by Dominant Net Play

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In the finals of the University doubles tournament yesterday afternoon E. T. Herndon 2G.B. and W. W. Ingraham '25 defeated R. N. Bradley 1G.B. and F. S. Turner 1L. in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, 6-1. Throughout the match Herndon and Ingraham clearly outplayed their opponents.

Although Bradley and Turner held the lead in the second set up to 3-2, they were promptly crushed and allowed but three points in the rest of the set. The last set was more closely fought than the score would indicate, for Bradley and Turner scored high in every game, and took the next to the last at fifteen.

Although the winners earned but few aces, they obviously outserved their opponents, who double-faulted several times.

The play was principally for possession of the net, and the game was largely of vollying. Frequently Bradley and Turner were forced back from the net because of their failure to kill many easy lobs.

The winners will each receive a gold medal, and Bradley and Turner each one of silver.
