Professor Henri Pirenne, rector of the University of Ghent, who has come to this country as the first Belgian exchange professor to American universities, will deliver the first of his lectures on "The Origin of Cities in Western Europe" at Emerson D this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. Professor Pirenne, who arrived at President Lowell's house yesterday afternoon, will stay there until Saturday, after which he will be at the Copley Plaza Hotel until Tuesday, October 31. These lectures, which will be open to the public, will be delivered in French; in addition to the one this afternoon, others will be given in the same place tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday, October 25, 26, and 27, and on the following Monday, October 31.
