HARD GAMES SCHEDULED FOR BASKETBALL TEAM

With only four days of practice before the first contest after the recess, Coach Wachter's men will get under way this afternoon for the remainder of the basketball season, which is to culminate in two games with Yale, the first at New Haven on February 4.

Of the coming contests, that with Worcester Tech at Worcester this Saturday will provide the stiffest opposition that the five has faced so far this winter and should serve as a "key" game, giving the quintet its first crucial test and indicating more or less accurately the prospects of the team in the remaining games. Last winter the Engineer five was declared the championship team of New England, three of its members being given a place on the mythical "All New England" quintet. This fall every one of last year's veterans returned and already the five has again shown itself to be a strong contender for championship honors.

Crimson Line-Up Strengthened

The Crimson squad, however, will be able to present a much stronger line-up than was the case for the games immediately preceding the vacation. Both Gordon, last year's yearling leader, and Captain McLeish have recovered from injuries received at the opening of the season and will again be able to step into their regular places at forward, strengthening greatly what has been the team's weakest point so far. The other positions on the five seem to have been more or less definitely settled and during the coming two or three contests at least will probably remain as they were in the first games, Black and Rudofsky holding the guard berths with Fitts at the center position.

Besides the game with Worcester Tech, several other important contests are in store for the five during the coming weeks. Next Tuesday the team will face Clark at Hemenway, while a week from Saturday a trip will be made to West Point to meet the strong Army aggregation. M. I. T. will be faced on January 17 and on January 20 the squad will again journey to Worcester to meet Holy Cross.
