HOCKEY SQUAD SHOWS IMPROVEMENT OVER WORK OF SATURDAY

IN GAME WITH B. A. A. FOR HOBEY BAKER FUND NEXT WEEK

The University hockey team, showing unusual freshness and endurance for the first workout after such a gruelling contest as that with Princeton, chalked up a long string of goals against M. I. T. in a practice scrimmage yesterday afternoon and at the same time held the Engineers scoreless. Friday evening of this week the Crimson will face M. I. T. in a formal way for the first time this season when it plays the Engineers in a regularly scheduled game at the Arena.

Mediocre ice yesterday did not prevent Coach Claflin's men from showing brilliant team-work and individual prowess, which completely swept their opponents out of the picture. All of the three regular University forwards broke away at one time or another and several times terminated these dashes with goals. Neither Coach Claflin nor one of his players was satisfied with the showing made against the Tigers Saturday, especially in regard to the successful carrying out of scoring opportunities. Hence the large number of tallies netted in yesterday's work-out was rather encouraging.

For the remainder of this week the Crimson squad will point for the M. I. T. game with the B. A. A. contest for the Hobey Baker Fund Tuesday ever present in the background as the greatest task of the immediate future. Coach Claflin does not expect much trouble in disposing of the Engineers by a comfortable margin, but he realizes that the B. A. A. struggle will be one of the stiffest on this year's schedule.
