ORGANIZE TUTORING BUREAU

Phi Beta Kappa to Offer Assistance to Freshmen and Transfer Students--Offices in Hollis 23

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Phi Beta Kappa Tutoring Bureau, founded in 1915 to supervise the work of backward students, has just been organized for the current year. Leonard Wheeler Jr. '22 has been appointed chairman of the board, the other members of which are W. G. Brocker ocC., D. P. Ferguson '22, F. T. Pratt '22, and W. T. Salter 1M., all of the University Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. This board will be assisted by 18 associates, who will be men of high standing, many of them members of the Phi Beta Kappa.

The Bureau was discontinued during the war, but was resumed last year. Its purpose is to offer assistance to Freshmen and transfer students who for any reason are behind in their studies. While primarily intended for men on probation, it will also benefit those who, though not in immediate difficulties, are nevertheless not getting the most out of their work. With this aim in view, a circular letter has been sent out to all Senior advisors by Haven Parker '22, chairman of the Student Council committee on Senior advisors, calling their attention to the Bureau, and asking that Freshmen who are at all in need of help be recommended to it.

An important feature of the work is that the service will, in most cases, be free. The Bureau is not a tutoring agency, and no one need hesitate in seeking its help. It is financed and supervised by the Phi Beta Kappa, in cooperation with the College Office.

Offices of the Bureau will be opened this week in Hollis 23. Here the board of advisors will hold office hours on Monday evenings, from 8 to 9 o'clock, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30 to 2.30 o'clock. They will gladly help any men who have any problems at all in connection with their studies.
