STRONG SQUAD FOR ELI WINTER TRACK SEASON

With nine "Y" men back and 14 numeral men from the class of 1924, prospects at Yale are encouraging for a track season as successful as last year's, when the team from New Haven defeated the University by a score of 62 1-3 to 54 2-3. Although the season has not officially opened the distance runners have been at cross country work all fall and as many others as possible have been running inside the field.

In the dashes there are S. H. Feldman '23, who, in addition to running in the Oxford-Cambridge meet last summer, placed second in the 100-yard dash and first in the 220 against the University. E. J. Rusnak '23 and E. J. Locke '24 are two other capable candidates available, Locke having run against the Crimson yearlings last spring when he placed first in the 100-yard and second in the 220-yard dash.

A. H. Cobb '23 and R. F. Shedden '22 are eligible for the hurdles, the former having won second place in the Harvard-Yale meet. The Elis' real strength in this department, however, lies in her former Freshman star, Anton Hulman '24, who was a high scorer against the University 1924 team, winning both the 120-yard high hurdles and the 220-yard low hurdle events. C. B. Millikan '24, another member of last year's Freshman aggregation, will also be available.

Campbell Strong in 880

With T. J. Campbell '23 still in the running, Yale has a sure point winner in the 880-yard run. Campbell won the 880 in the Harvard-Yale meet, and came in well ahead of the field in the Oxford-Cambridge classic last summer. D. S. Bush '24, who placed third against the Crimson yearlings, will also be available for this department next spring. These two men will, in addition, probably be entered in the 1 mile run, both having placed in this event in their meets with the University.

There is a wealth of material available for the 2-mile run, prominent among whom are F. W. Hilles '22, winner in the meet against the University. C. D. Hilles Jr. '24 and M. Treadwell '24 are also available for this event. Billes won the 2-mile for the Freshmen last season while Treadwell placed second in the same event.

Yale will be well represented in the two weight events, having a number of veterans in addition to several promising candidates from 1924. R. E. Jordan '23, captain-elect of the Yale football team next autumn, is the mainstay in the shot-put, having won his event against the University in the meet last May.

The loss of R. W. Landon '21, world's champion high-jumper, will be felt very keenly in this event, but promising material is available in Reeves and Skinner, both of 1923, and W. Voorhees '24, second in last year's Freshman event.

With Captain T. P. Gardner '22 still in form for the pole-vault, the Yale coaches will have little cause for worry along this line next spring. Gardner won first place against the University.
