CREWS TO LEAVE FOR NEW LONDON TOMORROW

Will Stay at Usual Red Top Training Quarters Until Yale Race on June 24-Large Number of Coaches, Managers and Assistants With Oarsmen

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University and Freshmen crews accompanied by coaches, managers, substitutes, and waiters will leave tomorrow for the usual training quarters at Red Top near New London on the Thames Rivers to begin three weeks of practice for the Yale race.

Both the University and Freshman eights have been practically picked as they will row against Yale and it is the intention of the coaches entering this last phase of the year's work to smooth, out and increase the speed of the crews as at present constituted rather than to attempt any new experiments.

The complete list of the men in the different boats and the substitutes is as follows:

University A.-Stroke, Appleton; 7, Kane; 6, Terry; 5, McCagg; 4, Ladd; 3, Olmsted; 2, Damon! bow, Morgan; cox., Peirson.

University B.-Stroke, Matthews; 7, Fuller; 6, Cummings; 5, Pond; 4, Webb; 3, Huiskamp; 2, Bradford; bow, Atkinson; cox., Badger.

Substitutes.-Duncan, Kunhardt, Nickerson, Withington.

Freshman.-Stroke, Amory; 7, Hobson; 6, Hamilton; 5, C. J. Hubbard; 4, R. S. Hubbard; 3, Henry; 2, Storey; bow, Hollister; cox., Burnham.

Substitutes.-Bigelow, Bradford, Brown Carson, Jameson.

Coach William Haines will be in direct charge of the University crews and Dr. Howe and Mr. Herbert Haines in charge of the Freshman eight. Mr. R. F. Herrick '90 head of the Graduate Advisory Committee on Crew, who has been following the work of the crews very closely all season, will be at Red Top to supervise the training.

Three University managers, two Freshman managers, eight undergraduate waiters, and numerous riggers and other helpers are included in the official party.

Five eight-oared shells left yesterday for training quarters. The coaches are taking three shells made by Sims, one Davy, and one Rough. Except for the Sims boat which has been definitely picked for the University crew, it is not certain which shells will be used, although the yearlings will probably enter their final race in the Davy which they have used all year.

Practice yesterday was light for both the University and Freshman squads. The University eights were given a rather short row to Harvard Bridge, Crew A showing considerable improvement since the Cornell race, and doing especially well at a low stroke. The second 1924 crew rowed together for the-last time while the first Freshmen were given a light work-out late in the afternoon
