Appointed by Corporation to Succeed J. U. Nef--Shaw Fellowship Goes to Harry Nadell--New Tutors in History, Government and Economics

On the nomination of the Governing Board of the Union, the Corporation has appointed Francis B. Foster '17 of Milton, graduate manager of the Union for next year, to succeed John U. Nef '20, the present manager.

Harry Nadell '22 of Paterson, N. J., has been awarded the Shaw Travelling Fellowship at the University, given each year to enable a man graduating from the college to travel abroad. Nadell, who has done brilliant work in history, government, and economics, his special field being public finance, is completing his college work in three years.

Two newly-established Paine Travelling Fellowships in Music have been awarded for next year to Virgil Thomson '22, who this year has been assisting in several music courses in addition to his college work, and to Melville M. Smith '20, who now holds the Elkan Naumburg Fellowship and is studying in Paris.

Among the men appointed tutors in History, Government, and Economics for next year is James W. Angell '18, son of president-elect Angell of Yale. The other newly-appointed tutors are James Hart, William A. Berridge '14, Karl W. Bigelow, Elmo P. Hohman, and Norman J. Silberling '14.
