VARIETY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A long time ago some one said "variety is the spice of life", and people have been repeating it ever since. There is no denying that sameness lags on one after a while.

The Harvard-Yale dances at the Union furnish an excellent example, in that for a long time they have suffered from a rather unfortunate sameness. This has demonstrated itself in the form of undue hilarity on the part of a minority of the dancers. Aside from the consideration that such hilarity is only selfish enjoyment at the expense of the majority, it is hard to find any excuse for this sort of thing. Least of all should it occur at a crowded evening at the Union, where it reflects directly up-on the College, and gives rise to much unsavory outside comment.

Tonight's affair offers an opportunity for variety in our amusements--a chance to get rid of a disagreeable sameness. By taking advantage of it the undergraduate may succeed in establishing a not altogether undesirable precedent.
