On a heavy, muddy field the University Second Team battled the Brown Seconds to a 14-14 tie yesterday. Though the condition of the ground slowed up the play, of course, there was some fast open field running, especially by Sullivan of Brown. Both teams also made repeated and successful use of the forward pass, the Crimson trying 10 and completing six, while Brown completed five forward and four lateral passes. Of the home team's six, two led immediately to touchdowns, while one of Brown's was Instrumental in gaining one of their scores. The crimson passing combination with Part on the throwing end, and either Hill or Greenberg as receiver, worked particularly well. In the first period a pass, Part to Hill, put the ball within striking distance of the Brown goal, when Greenberg shortly afterward took it over for the first score. The last named player was also responsible for the second Crimson touchdown, and in addition kicked both goals.
For Brown the outstanding player was Sullivan, an extremely fast and elusive back. At the beginning of the third period he ran back the kick off through the entire Crimson team for Brown's first score. Repeatedly he rolled up gains of ten or fifteen yards around the end-or on dodging, twisting cut-in-plays.
The line-ups were as follows: Score: University Second Team 14, Brown Second Team 14. Touchdowns: Greenberg 2. Sullivan 2. Goals from touchdown: Greenberg 2, Sullivan 2, Referee: L. Bankart, Dartmouth. Umpire: George Brown, B.A.A. Head linesman: R. Bubo, Yale.
