2-MILE RELAY RACE CHANGED TO MEDLEY

Instead of the two-mile relay race at the Guavanty Club Games in New York Feb. 19, there will be a medly relay race, with four men running 220, 440, 880 yards and a mile each. The team which will be entered will probably be chosen from the following seven men; Captain D. F. O'connell '21, J. A. McCarthy '22, Bayard Wharton '22, R. Chute '22, A. J. Fox '21, E. O. Gourdin '21, and R. D. Howard '23. Besides the relay team entry, R. S. Whitney '21 and C. G. Krogness '21 will be entered in the 70 yard hurdles, and Kroyness will be entered in the high-jump. In addition, some of the men on the relay team may be entered in the sprint events.

An invitation has been received to enter a two-mile relay team in the New York Athletic Club Games on March 5, to run against Yale and Cornell, but it has not been definitely decided to accept.

Aided by the favorable weather yesterday, the relay teams which were picked on Wednesday ran for the first time as teams. Special attention was paid to the passing of the baton, and running the corners. The Freshmen showed noticeable improvement in both these features, and if the warm weather continues for the next week they should develop into a winning team by the time of the B. A. A. games.

Coach Donovan also gave intensive work to the sprinters who are entered in the B. A. A. games. Quite a number of practice races were held, in which E. O. Gourdin '21, R. D. Howard '23, C. H. Wansker '23, and Vinton Chapin '23 seemed to have the most speed. Field event men, especially Freshmen, were noticeable for their absence.
