After consultation with the President of the University Debating Council yesterday, the French Department announced the subject and dates of competition for the annual Pasteur Price, given to the winner of a debate on contemporary French politics. The subject for the debate, the first tryouts for which will be held on February 8. Is. "Resolved. That the President of the French Republic should have increased executive power, as proposed by M. Millerand."
At the first tryouts six men will be retained and will speak in the final debate which will be held on March 8. At that time speeches of twelve minutes will be permitted, and any man may choose, either side of the question Professor J. A. Mereier and R. F. Jones '22, president of the Debating Council, are in charge of the debate and all inquiries should be directed to them.
