Rear Admiral William S. Sims, U. S. N., and Major George Haven Putnam of New York, of the English-speaking Union, will be the chief speakers at a mass meeting to be held under the auspices of the Loyal Coalition in Symphony Hall on January 25. Professor B. S. Hurlbut of the English department will preside.
Read Admiral Sims commanded the American warships operating in conjunction with the British naval forces during the war and has attracted much attention during the past few years on account of his many statements in favor of preserving Anglo-American friendship. Major Putnam is a member of the publishing house of that name, and has been prominent as an author and in public life. He was one of the committee who entertained the foreign delegates to the Pilgrim Tercentenary celebration last fall.
