Hon. Lawson Purdy of New York City, Chairman of the Board of Taxes and Assessments during Mayor Mitchell's administration, will speak at the regular meeting of Government 17 today on "Municipal Finance." Mr. Purdy was the author of New York City's present scientific plan of assessing real estate for purposes of taxation and is regarded as one of the foremost American authorities on the financial affairs of cities. He will also speak to the members of Government 17 on Thursday of this week, dealing at that time with the subject of "Municipal Budget Making."
