When the first of a series of time trials is held early this week, the preparations of the University track team for the Pennsylvania Relay Carnival will have begun. Upon the results of the several time trials in the different events will depend the entries of the University. No decision has been made about the one-mile, two-mile, and medley relay races, although these events have all been considered.
Beginning this noon training tables for both the University and 1923 teams will start. The University track men will have their training table at the Varsity Club, while the yearlings will eat at the Smith Halls Dining Rooms. The men whose names were announced last week will constitute the training table list for the present, but men will be added to the list and dropped from it as the season Progresses.
The coaches have given out the names of captains for this week as follows: 100-yard dash, E. O. Gourdin '21; 220-yard dash, P. C. Pearson '21; 440-yard dash, R. Chute '22; 880-yard dash, W. H. Goodwin '20; one-mile run, T. G. Ames '20; two-mile run, C. L. Bond '20; high jump, C. G. Krogness, Jr., '21; broad jump, E. O. Gourdin '21 and C. G. Krogness, Jr., '21; hammer throw, J. F. Brown '22; shot put, L. B. McCagg '22; pole vault, R. W. Harwood '20; low and high hurdles, B. H. Tracy '20.
