Twenty-three crews are now entered in the ladder tournament, and of these all but four have been placed according to the results of yesterday's races. The first and second University will be rated after the brush to be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Union Boat Club eight.
In addition to the race between these three crews there will be one between the third University, the first Freshman, and the second Union Boat Club eights.
Yesterday, R. Jenney '21 was unable to stroke the second crew because of a cold, but he will be back in the boat for the race today.
One of the most interesting races held yesterday was between the third University and the first 1923 eights, which was won by the former by the close margin of 12 feet. The 1920 A crew, which, with the exception of one man, is the same as last year when it defeated all other class crews in Cambridge and also Yale's championship crew at New Haven, won the race against 1920 B by ten feet, covering the course in one minute and fifty-nine seconds.
Rating of Crews.
The placing of the crews according to the results of yesterday's races is as follows: First and second (undecided) University A and B; third, University C; fourth, Freshman 1; fifth, 1920 A; sixth, 1920 B; seventh, Freshman 2; eighth, 1921 A; ninth, 1921 B; tenth, Freshman 3; eleventh, 1922 A; twelfth Freshman 5; thirteenth, 1922 B; fourteenth, Freshman 4; fifteenth, Freshman 6; sixteenth, Freshman 7; seventeenth, 1922 C; eighteenth, Freshman 8; nineteenth, Freshman 9; twentieth, 1921 C; twenty-first, Freshman 10. The eleventh Freshman and 1922 D did not row, so they must start at the bottom of the ladder.
These ratings are according to the times which were made by the crews yesterday. The next regatta of the ladder tournament will be held Wednesday, April 14; any crew wishing to challenge the one immediately above it may do so, but all challenges must be handed in to the management by Monday evening.
