It was a rather battered Freshman team that stood on the sidelines yesterday, enjoying a respite from scrimmaging, P. Jenkins and E. S. Gehrke, the two dependable backs that largely compose the Yearling offense, did not report at all, being excused on account of injuries sustained Saturday. Both will be back in the line-up before the Yale game. The team felt the effects of the Princeton game, for when Coach Ryan ran it through a brisk signal drill, it left the field very much exhausted.
Most of the practice, however, was occupied in scrimmaging between Team B and the Second Squad. The coaches worked the white jerseys hard, trying to build up a stronger offense. K. S. Pfaffman was the feature of the afternoon, breaking through the scrubs twice for touchdowns after tearing one-half the length of the field. Once started, Pfaffman is probably the fastest runner on the squad, effective rather from his speed than his dodging ability. Intensive training will be resumed today for the last and hardest game of the season against Yale. The Eli Cubs have a formidable combination, scoring 41 points on Dean Academy, against which the Freshmen were able to pile up 15.
