Eli Cubs Get 17-3 Decision Over Tigers

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In one of the most brilliantly contested Freshman games ever played at Yale, the Eli 1924 team defeated its Princeton class rivals 17 to 3, Saturday. During the first half, Yale three times reached the Tigers' 30-yard mark but were unable to continue through the stone wall defense of their opponents.

At the beginning of the third quarter, Captain O'Hearn of the Eli yearlings caught the kickoff and by neat broken field running sifted through seven of his opponents for a gain of 80 yards and the first touchdown of the game. Later Oed of Yale and Captain Kon Smith of Princeton succeeded in getting a field goal.

Warner, the Eli halfback, was used very effectively in line plays. In the final period he tore through center for Yale's second touchdown.
