SECOND ELEVEN ELECTS A.J. CONLON CAPTAIN

TWO NEW MEN REPORT TO KNOX

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Arthur Joseph Conlon '22 of Winchcster, 'Mass., was elected captain of the second football team yesterday after the regular Monday afternoon workout. He was a sterling shortstop on the University baseball team last spring. He prepared at Exeter, where he was also prominent in athletics. Until recently Conlon was on the first squad as a quarterback.

Yesterday the black-jerseyed back-fielders passed and kicked the ball, while the linesmen were getting some fine points on "breaking through" from Coach Knox. After work on the charging machine, the emphasis was laid for the rest of the afternoon on signal practice, both in groups and in a dummy scrimmage.

There were two among the new men reporting form practice yesterday, A. Anthony and E. Brown. Anthony showed up well last year on the Tufts eleven, where, though heavy, he was particularly noted for his ground-covering ability. Brown comes from Howard University of Washington, D.C. He played halfback there and won this position on the All-American football team last fall. The practice session ended soon after 5.
