J. M. Kleberg '22 passed into the finals of the Union tennis tournament by defeating E. A. Niles 3L., one of the finalists in the University tournament, yesterday afternoon, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Niles was inclined to be erratic and could not hold his own against Kleberg's steadiness. The other position in the finals lies between L. B. Norrie 3 E. S. and the winner of the match between M. Duane '23 and J. P. Pollard 1L.
The best play of the afternoon was displayed when L. A. do Turenne '21 and M. Duane '23 defeated J. M. Kleberg '22 and F. T. Pratt '22 in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5. The first two sets were very one-sided, but in the last the losers drew up from a 4-0 score to 5-5, when fast playing on the part of do Turenne and Duane finished the match quickly.
J. U. Nef and A. E. Kirk also went into the finals by overcoming L. B. Norrie 3 E. S. and G. W. Tower, U. E. S., 8-6, 6-1. The final match will be played tomorrow.
