In a hard fought contest yesterday the newly formed University Squash Racquets team went down to defeat, 3-1, before the Union Boat Club's team. It was the initial match of the season and the players were inexperienced but they struggled gamely against the more accurate shots of their opponents. L. A. Eldridge '21 who won the University's matched played a consistent game, and C. C. Peabody, the Boat Club captain, starred with his side-line shots. The brisk volleying of H. C. Janin Sp. and the clever drop-shots of M. T. Wendell were other noteworthy phases of the match.

The summary: C. C. Peabody defeated M. Bradlee '22, 15-7, 15-4, 15-6; M. T. Wendell defeated P. E. Jackson '21, 15-4, 15-5, 15-6; L. A. Eldridge '21 defeated B. Harwood, 8-15, 17-16, 15-10, 17-16; W. I. Badger defeated H. C. Janin Sp., 18-17, 12-15, 17-16, 15-12.
