At a meeting of all the track "H" men in College, held at the Union yesterday, William Moore Occ., of Gloucester, was re-elected captain of the University track team for the season of 1919-20. Moore has been the leading point-winner of the track squad this year, placing first in both dashes in the dual meets with M. I. T., Yale, and Princeton. In the Intercollegiates, Moore came in second in the furlong and third in the century event. Moore's best time for the shorter sprint is ten seconds flat, which he made in the semi-finals of the Intercollegiates. In the M. I. T. Meet, Moore ran the 220 in 22 and 1-5 seconds, a record which he has not equaled since.
At Phillips Andover Academy, where Moore prepared, he did not take part in work on the cinder path. He entered, College in the fall of 1914, and was a member of the 1918 Freshman track team. He ran the dashes on the University team in the following spring, but did not receive his "H" at that time. In the season of 1916-17 Moore took part in fall and winter track, but entered the service in April, and did not return to College until late this winter.
Now on Way to Paris.
At the present time Moore is on his way to Paris, where he will take part in the Inter-Allied games to be held there from June 24 to July 6. Over fifty athletes who were in the army during the war have been selected by the officials of the Amateur Athletic Union from the colleges and athletic clubs of the country to represent the United States at the games, and Moore, accompanied by R. W. Harwood '20, is already on the ocean.
