A letter describing the opportunities for college men as army field clerks during the summer, has been received by President Lowell from Colonel F. C. Hanker, demobilization officer of the army. The War Department has authorized the appointment of a number of clerks to aid in the demobilization of overseas troops at Camp Dix, N. J. The rate of pay is $100 per month, and appointments can be terminated at any time.
The same rules and regulations that govern officers and enlisted men apply to field clerks who are likewise required to live within the camp area. Quarters are furnished within the camp, free of charge, and rations are furnished at a cost of $15 to $30 per month.
Each applicant must undergo a thorough, physical examination for appointment, the standard for physical fitness being the general physical requirements for military service. The minimum standard of vision will be 20-70 in each eye, correctable to 20-40 by glasses. In juries and defects which will not interfere with the performance of proper duties by the candidate, will be noted, but not regarded as disqualifying. No candidate will be accepted whose weight falls below 115 pounds without special authority from the Adjutant General of the Army.

Several application blanks have been forwarded to the College Office, and further information concerning appointment may be obtained at University 5. Applications should be addressed to the Commanding General, Camp Dix, N. J., attention Camp Personnel Adjutant, Camp Headquarters.
