In a seven-inning game played at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon, the 1922 baseball team defeated the University nine by a score of 4-3. The Freshmen got an early advantage by scoring twice in both the first and third innings, and the University team was never able to pass the yearling lead.

J. R. Meehan pitched for the Freshmen, holding his opponents to five hits, including a triple by C. S. Stillman '21, and a double by E. L. Bigelow '21. He received good support, especially by A. J. Conlon, at shortstop, who cut off several hits by his fast fielding.

W. B. Felton '19 struck out eight men, but he was hit hard in the first three innings, and gave several bases on balls. He was replaced in the sixth inning by S. H. Johnson '19, who did not allow any hits in the next two innings.

There were several changes in the University line-up: P. K. Ellis '19 and R. H. Bond '19 replaced L. B. Evans '20 and R. E. Gross '19 in the outfield, while H. P. King '21 started at first base in place of W. B. Frothingham '21. R. W. Emmons '20 was unable to play because of a dislocated finger and M. Phinney '19 took his place temporarily.

The University's batting order yesterday was as follows: Ellis, c.f.; Phinney, s.s.; Knowles, l.f.; Perkins, 3b,; McLeod, 2b.; King, 1b.; Bond, r.f.; C. S. Stillman, c.; and Felton, p.
