GOETZ OUTLINES R.O.T.C. WORK

COMPREHENSIVE COURSE WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH COLLEGE ACTIVITIES.

Before a gathering of 200 Freshmen in Standish Hall last evening, Colonel Goetz explained the work of the Field Artillery Unit to be established here next fail.

"The Artillery course", he said, as it will be given here, will consist of more technical training than I received at West Point." Colonel Goetz then stated that by giving four years to the course a man can meet all government requirements and not interfere with his College activities. The following is an outline of the four years:

First year--Elementary gunnery and materiel. Studies about horses.

Second year--Military Law and Administration. Studies in Ordnance.

Third year--Field Artillery Firing. Studies in orientation, topography and map making.

Fourth year--Minor tactics and Military History.

According to an announcement made by the Military Office yesterday, Major Franklin Miller, Field Artillery, U. S. A., has been directed to report at the University for duty during the absence of Colonel Goetz, who is sailing at noon today for France. Major Miller is expected to arrive here within three or four days.
