1922 IN 4-4 TIE WITH ANDOVER

Andover held the Freshman nine to a 4-4 tie in Saturday's game which was played at Soldiers Field in a drizzling rain. The yearling team is still undergoing a batting slump, and was outhit by the visitors who amassed a total of five singles, two doubles, a triple, and a home run. However, many errors in fielding offset the advantage gained by superior work at bat.

The first score was made by 1922 in the opening inning, due to two misplays by the visitors. Andover brought in two runs in the following inning on a double and a single. A triple by F. W. Crocker and a double by L. A. Hallock, combined with loose work in the Andover infield, gave the Freshmen a four to one lead at the end of the fourth. In the sixth inning, two singles and a double gave Andover two more tallies, which were followed two innings later by Durant's home run, tying the score. At this point, E. F. Goode, whom Andover had been hitting rather freely, was replaced by J. R. Meehan.

The steady drizzle which had been going on throughout the contest became a heavy downpour at the beginning of the ninth inning. Andover scored twice in the first half of the inning, but Umpire Pendleton was forced to call off the contest in the last of the ninth, when the Freshmen had two men on base, and no outs.

If the weather is favorable this afternoon, the Freshman nine will meet St. Marks School at Southboro at 3 o'clock. The game was scheduled for April 26 but had to be postponed on account of bad weather. Sixteen members of the squad will make the trip, leaving Cambridge by automobile at 12.30.
