UNIVERSITY CREW LED 1922 IN FIRST RACE

Yesterday afternoon the first practice race of the season took place between University A eight and the Freshman first crew. The race was about three-quarters of a mile long and was closely contested, the University eight winning by a scant margin.

J. Crocker '22 who has been rowing three on the first Freshman eight was stricken with appendicitis yesterday and was operated on in the afternoon. Crocker will be unable to row for the rest of the season and W. Whitman '22 has taken his place at 3.

No changes were made in the University boat yesterday.

The Freshmen lined up for the race as follows: Stroke, M. Bradlee; 7, C. Garland; 6, L. B. McCagg; 5, L. Terry; 4, R. A. Kane; 3, W. Whitman; 2, S. A. Duncan; bow, G. Appleton; cox, D. Miller.

Louderback Junior Crew Captain.

At a meeting of the Junior class crew yesterday afternoon, William Johnson Louderback '20, of Highland Park, III., coxswain, was elected captain. The Junior class crew will race in a regatta on May 10 with the Senior and Sophomore class crews.
