Posthumous Award to Lieut. Gardner.
The Distinguished Service Cross was awarded posthumously to Lieutenant Gardner for "extraordinary heroism in action in the Argonne Forest, October 3, 1918." Dorr was given the Medaglia Argento Al Valor Militare, the highest decoration for bravery conferred by the Italian Government to foreigners.
