As the result of the final inter-class debate, the Sophomore team won the interclass championship for 1919-20. The Sophomore team was composed of W. H. Hardy, S. A. Rosenblatt, and C. W. Phelps, leader, who were all awarded the silver loving cups presented by the University Debating Council.

The question under debate was worded as follows: "Resolved, That the United States should enforce that form of collective bargaining advocated by the American Federation of Labor." The Sophomores, who upheld the negative, were awarded a 2 to 1 decision, and the speeches of Phelps and Rosenblatt were given especial commendation.
