As a result of the first two days of work on the University Endowment Fund campaign over all the United States except the city of Boston, the committee reports a total collection of $602,250. On Monday night the figures in the same district had only reached $343,250. These figures are necessarily incomplete as many of the active teams have not yet reported to the central committee.
A few individual subscriptions swelled the total figures by $275,000.
The Class of 1896 subscribed $100,000; T. W. Lamont '92 subscribed $100,000; President Lowell, $25,000; Eliot Wadsworth '98, chairman of the Executive Committee, $25,000; J. W. Prentiss '98, treasurer of the Executive Committee, $25,000.
These figures are very gratifying to the Endowment Fund Committee as a result of two day work outside of Boston. The collection of funds from Boston itself will start tomorrow morning. The committee hopes that, since more than 25 per cent of the University graduates live in Boston, a total of over five million dollars will be collected by the Boston campaign teams.
