The University will meet Yale and Princeton in a triangular debate this year, if the other two universities are willing, according to a recent vote of the Debating Council. It was also decided to hold the Freshman intercollegiate debates.
The Debating Council has entered into negotiations with Yale and Princeton, and, if they are successful, the University debate will be held in April; the Freshman debate in May.
The French Department will also hold the Pasteur Debate on March 6. The subject will be some phase of French politics, and is open to all members of the University. The Freshman Debating Club which was not organized in November because of the S. A. T. C. is to be organized next Wednesday evening. The officers of the Debating Council for this year are as follows: President, W. A. Hosmer Occ (18); vice-president, W. Hettleman 1L.; secretary, H. Berlack '20; manager, M. Zobel '19.
The Freshman team defeated Yale 1921 last year, but lost to Princeton, who won the triangular title.
