Fogg Museum Has Chinese Painting

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

An ancient Chinese painting has been recently added to the exhibits at the Fogg Art Museum through the gift of Charles L. Freer of Detroit, a collector of Chinese art and an authority on the subject. It is a large picture entitled "Ancient Pines and Rocks," attributed to Li Cheny, a master of the Sung Dynasty. It was painted in the period when the feudal regime was at its height and shows in a marked degree the influence of that regime. According to authorities on the subject, the work was composed in 995 A.D.

The work is on exhibition to the public in the main gallery of the Fogg Museum.
