MAY DISCHARGE MARINES

LT. VEDDER EXPECTS ORDERS TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR DISCHARGE.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Lieutenant Vedder, commandant of the Marine Section has not yet received orders to discharge men from the unit, but such orders are expected within the next few weeks. At present it is planned to keep the men here until June, but it seems probable that they will be sent away before then.

The majority of the men will go from here to Paris Island, South Carolina, and thence to Quantico, Virginia, where they will receive their commissions as line officers upon completion of their course of training. Those men who were selected for Marine Aviation service, however, will go first to the ground school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and then to the flying chool at Miami, Florida, where they will complete their training and receive commissions.

The question of how long the men would be retained in active service after receiving their commissions also remains undecided.
