SEVEN HELD LAST PRACTICE

CAPTAIN MORGAN IMPROVED BUT WILL NOT GET INTO THIRD ELI GAME.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Winsor put the hockey squad through their last practice of the season in the Arena yesterday afternoon, and brought the long preparation for the final Yale game to a close with an unexpected 45-minute scrimmage. In spite of the absence of Captain Morgan the seven played a strong game, and showed that the loss of even the most important member of the combination would not greatly hamper their work at New Haven tomorrow night. Appleton, playing point in Captain Morgan's place, carried the puck well and was aggressive on the defence, although not as consistent as possible.

Passing of Line Accurate.

The scrimmage started with the first team lined up against the B. A. A. Almost immediately after play started Downing scored for the B. A. A. on a rebound, and two minutes later Baker evened it up with a snap shot from a scrimmage. For the first time this week the forwards were making sure of their passes, and the result was a total of seven goals. Townsend played a conspicuous part in the scoring of three, receiving a pass from Baker after about seven minutes of play he took it past the defence and returned it to Baker, who scored. Again, shortly afterwards, he passed out to Baker from behind the goal, and the latter's long shot went through Martin for the third tally. Wylde's work at goal kept most of the shots which the outer defence let through from counting, but Condon substituted in the B. A. A. line, managed to drive one through him into the net. Here Coach Winsor put the third team in for the B. A. A., and gradually replaced the first with substitutes.

Two of the three remaining goals were scored by Kissel, and the last, caged by Fisher, made the final score 7 to 2.

The team and the first-string substitutes will leave for New Haven today on the 1.05 train, and will practice tonight in the Yale Arena.

Capt. Morgan Improved.

It was announced last night at the Stillman Infirmary that Captain Morgan's condition was encouraging; both his temperature and pulse were normal, but no hope of his being able to play this week was extended.
