Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
Professor Pickering, of the Harvard Observatory, an expert and renowned man of science, denounces the "daylight saving" trick with the clock as a foolish and useless fiction. His opinion will have great weight and will carry conviction to the many who have hitherto regarded the scheme as a more or less successful plan to fool Mother Nature and her children at the same time.
"Not a single scientific society or other body with expert knowledge has supported it," says Professor Pickering, "and it is certain to result in confusion and danger. Its principal value appears to be that we might deceive children so they could go to bed at 8 o'clock and think they were sitting up until 9."
This eminent authority advances 10 arguments against the proposition, every one of which has force and point. They are to be commended to the careful consideration of civic and other organizations that appear to believe that the public can accomplish something by trying to pull itself up by its bootstraps.
