A single change occurred in the practice of the University and 1919 crews yesterday afternoon. This was in the second Freshman, where R. E. Strawbridge '19 rowed bow in place of R. Cobb '19, who is out with a cold. F. B. Whitman '19, who was substituting for a time on the same crew, is now rowing regularly at 2.
University A had a work-out on the machines only, working with a high stroke. Coach Haines was in charge of the practice, and laid much emphasis on the unified increasing of the stroke.
The present order of the first two Freshman crews is as follows:
First.--Stroke, R. S. Emmet; 7, J. F. Linder, Jr.; 6, G. L. Batchelder, Jr.; 5, F. Parkman; 4, L. Nichols; 3, E. S. Brewer; 2, D. A. Freeman, Jr.; bow, G. D. Leighton.
Second.--Stroke, W. C. Chanler; 7, C. W. Greenough; 6, S. M. Rinehart, Jr.; 5, E. Richards, Jr.; 4, C. Canfield; 3, W. M. Aikin; 2, F. B. Whitman; bow, R. E. Strawbridge.
Princeton Oarsmen on Water Soon.
Princeton crew candidates expect to be out on Lake Carnegle the first of next week. The ice is very thing and in some places there is already open water. Indoor practice has been held for the past four weeks under the instruction of Dr. Spaoth. Very few changes have been made in the order of the boats, and the coaching staff seems very well pleased with the progress of the work.
The first Princeton crew is now rowing as follows: Stroke, P. M. Sturgis; 7, J. D. Paull; 6, P. H. Gadebusch; 5, C. J. Ingersol; 4. E. H. Lee; 3 R. H. McCann; 2, R. A. Cochran; bow, A. V. Savage.
The University crew races Princeton on Lake Carnegie on April 20, which virtually opens the rowing season. The second University crew will also meet the second Princeton crew on the same date.
