Nine Men Have Been Awarded Second Hockey Team Insignia

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Second University hockey team went through a successful season, winning three out of its four games. Although there were eight games scheduled, poor ice and lack of proper conditions prevented four of them being played. The first game with Middlesex School, played at Concord, was won by the second team, 7 to 2. Stone School was beaten in the Stadium by a score of 14 to 0, the seconds encountering little opposition. The game with the Boston College second team was also won by the second team, 6 to 0. In the last game, St. Paul's School of Concord, N. H., defeated the second University seven 5 to 0, in the most keenly contested game of the season.

Of the nine men who won their "H2ds," only one will be lost by graduation. The rest will strengthen the varsity squad materially next winter. Captain W. C. Appleton '17 and W. W. Rice '18 put up the most consistent performances.

The men who won their "H2ds" are: William Channing Appleton '17, of Cohasset (captain); David Duncan '18, of Port Washington, L. I., N. Y.; Charles Edward Balch Folsom '18, of Pittsfield, N. H.; Gustav Hermann Kissel '17, of Morristown, N. J.; Leigh Bence Liggett '18, of Chestnut Hill; Davidge Warfield Patterson '16, of Boston; Robert Johnston Hare Powel, Jr., '18, of Ardsley-on-Hudson, N. Y.; Willard Wadsworth Rice '18, of Newton Centre; Thomas Blythe Scott, Jr., '18, of New York, N. Y.; and Charles Edgar Ames '17, of Dedham (manager).

The awarding of these numerals is subject to the approval of the Athletic Committee.
