ADVOCATE CALLS FOR CANDIDATES

Professor Neilson to Speak at Smoker in Union Tonight.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A smoker for candidates for the literary and business departments of the Advocate will be held in the sanctum on the top floor of the Union this evening at 7 o'clock. Professor W. A. Neilson '96, of the English department, will give a short talk on magazine work and its value to undergraduates, and the new president of the Advocate. R. N. Cram '17, will outline the policy and requirements of the paper. W. H. Meeker '17, business manager, will explain the duties of the business candidates.

The smoker will mark the beginning of two competitions, a business competition, open only to Freshmen, and a literary competition. The literary competition will consist in writing contributions for the Advocate. Fiction, articles, or verse will be equally acceptable. To become eligible for election a candidate must have had published at least six contributions.

The Freshman business competition will consist of the usual procuring of advertisements, soliciting subscriptions, and the general business management of the paper.
