SEVERAL SHIFTS IN CREWS

Soucy Out With Grippe.--Busk Advanced to First Boat.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Yesterday's crew practice was marked by several shifts both in the University and the Freshman boats. F. W. Busk '16 was sent to 2 in University A, taking the place of Mosely Taylor '18, who now rows that position in University B. J. C. White, 2nd '17, reported for the first time today, and was placed at stroke in University B. E. W. Soucy '16 will be out until next week on account of grippe, which while not serious, requires a rest for a few days.

Coach Haines was in charge of University A and B and the first and second Freshman boats. Each of these put in time in the tank, rowing about fifteen minutes. Mr. Manning yesterday took over the instruction of the lower Freshman boats, and his services here will be of great value. He has not been made assistant coach as was reported yesterday, but he has merely consented to help with the lower Freshman boats, where the addition of another man will give the Freshmen much more individual coaching.

No changes were made in the first Freshman boat, but radical shifts took place in the second. This boat saw some new men promoted, as well as the old ones tried at new positions.

The orders of the crews are now as follows:

University A.--Stroke, G. C. Lund '16; 7, H. B. Cabot '17; 6, D. P. Morgan '16; 5, T. E. Stebbins '17; 4, K. B. G. Parson '16; 3, J. C. Talcott, Jr. '16; 2, F. W. Busk '16; bow, N. Brazer '18.

University B.--Stroke, J. C. White, 2nd '17; 7, H. A. Quimby '18; 6, H. S. Middendorf '16; 5, J. W. Middendorf '16; 4, K. P. Culbert '17; 3, W. Richardson '17; 2, M. Taylor '18; bow, C. A. Coolidge, Jr. '17.

First Freshman.--Stroke, R. S. Emmet; 7, J. F. Linder; 6, G. L. Batchelder; 5, F. Parkman; 4, D. A. Freeman; 3, K. R. Whitmarsh; 2, N. P. Hill; bow, D. Leighton.
