All candidates for the Freshman crew are to report at the Newell boathouse this afternoon at 3.45 o'clock. Oarsmen must be dressed at this hour ready for immediate work. Every one should have a locker in the Newell boathouse engaged before the beginning of practice. Those who already have lockers at Weld can transfer them to Newell without additional expense, and should do so immediately. Work on the river will begin as soon as weather permits, and since the ice is so much thinner this year than at any previous season since the building of the basin, the outdoor practice should begin unusually early. This autumn the 1919 squad numbered over a hundred, and it is hoped that at least fifty more men will report for the spring work. The men who played football this autumn are again reminded that they should come out, for they will be in no way handicapped by not having rowed last fall.
The call for University candidates will not be issued until tomorrow, when all are to report dressed in the Newell boat-house at 3.45 o'clock. The candidates for the University crews should be on hand at the same time for machine work until the river is open. As soon as possible the shells will be launched and regular watermanship work will start.
1919 Crew Manager Competition.
The competition for the positions of manager and assistant manager of the Freshman crew will begin in the Newell boathouse today at 2.30 o'clock. It will last until somewhere about the middle of May. The work embraces the running of launches, duties about the boathouses, and some clerical work. No previous experience is required. Both the manager and his assistant will be taken to the spring quarters at Red Top.
