HOCKEY CANDIDATES PUT IN THREE PRACTICE MATCHES

The University hockey squad was divided into teams which held practice games in the Arena yesterday afternoon, and Coach Winsor tried to bring some semblance of team play into the work of the men. Individually the showing of the higher ranked teams was very good but there was little united work and the passing was ragged. Team A was able to defeat team B in the first game, when after about 10 minutes of play, G. A. Percy '18 shot the puck past G. E. Abbot '17, who was at goal for team B. H. M. Bliss '17 also scored a goal but was off-side at the time so that it was not allowed. Captain J. E. P. Morgan '17 shone on the defence with T. H. Eckfeldt '17, while E. O. Baker '17 and R. Baldwin '17 showed up well in the opposing lines.

Teams C and D had a 15-minute practice which the former won 2 to 0 on goals by G. Townsend '18 and R. H. Kissel '19. Team F scored one goal against team E in the third game of the afternoon, and this game was continued till the end of the practice hour, the remaining substitutes being sent in one at a time.
